The Buffalo Sabres aren’t planning to trade forward Derek Roy this offseason.

“We expect him back at this point,” Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier told the Buffalo News. “And we expect him to have a good season at this point.”

An interesting revelation considering the 29-year-old center concluded this past campaign by mildly ripping coach Lindy Ruff for allegedly mishandling certain players. As for the “good season” projection, Roy shouldn’t have too hard a time topping the 44 points (minus-seven) he registered in 2011-12
