Could Potential Second Arena In Toronto Lead To New Team?
The city of Toronto apparently isn’t waiting for the NHL to allow the the area another team before building a second major-league hockey arena.
Jason Kay, editor of The Hockey News reports that “a site plan application for second NHL-sized arena” in the greater Toronto area will be submitted on Wednesday. That could lead to building permits as early as this fall, according to Kay.
There’s no question Toronto could support two NHL teams, but the league has long balked at attempts to put another club in a market dominated by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Could that stance change if and when another arena goes up?
