Ansar Khan of MLive.com suggests the Red Wings might offer a mid-range prospect or second-round draft in exchange for Bryan Allen of the Carolina Hurricanes.

At 6-5 and nearly 230lbs, the hulking shutdown defenseman carries a salary cap hit of $2.9 million, and is poised to become an unrestricted free agent after July 1. The 31-year-old would presumably replace an inexperienced Jakub Kindl alongside Jonathan Ericsson on the third pairing during the postseason.
