Dominik Hasek Serious About NHL Comeback
Dominik Hasek appears to be quite serious about trying to make an NHL comeback this season. In fact, he began on-ice training Thursday with HC Pardubice, the team with which he began his hockey career as a teenager and won a Czech league title in 2009-10.
“We are honored that Dominik Hasek used the offer to train together with our A team. Prepare him for the best possible conditions that could best prepare for the new season,” said general manager of Championship club Ondrej Sebek in the press release, per Sean Leahy of Yahoo! Sports.
Despite being 47 years old, Hasek is aiming for a multi-year contract. It wouldn’t be surprising to see some teams kick the tires on Hasek in the preseason (if there is a preseason) to see what he has left to offer, but a multi-year deal is an unrealistic expectation. Hasek said earlier this summer that he isn’t aiming to play anywhere but the NHL next season.
