Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News answers fans questions and discusses what the Stars may do at the trade deadline in his mailbag:

  • If the Stars don’t have a contract extension with Nicklas Grossman by the trade deadline, they need to trade him. Grossman can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, and there should be a trade market for him at the deadline.
  • If the Stars become sellers, then I think just about anyone would be in play. I would think the highest demand would be for players like Brenden MorrowSheldon Souray and Mark Fistric.
  • The Stars have 16 games in 29 days in February, and they very easily could hit a slump. If they do, I think they have to try to do as much as they can to get themselves positioned for next season.
  • Don’t expect the Stars to be in play for Ryan SuterShea Weber or Zach Parise.
