Martin Brodeur is planning to return for another season.

Reported by ESPNNY.com’s Katie Strang, the veteran goaltender intends to re-sign once the free agent market opens July 1.

“This season and this playoff run answered a lot of questions, where my game is at and I’m really happy to hopefully continue,” Brodeur said after losing to the Los Angeles Kings in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

And nothing short of something “really weird” would be required to drive the 40-year-old to sign with a team other than the New Jersey Devils.

“I don’t see myself at all doing that,” Brodeur said. “But again, I think circumstances is out of my hands. You never know, I guess. I don’t want to. It definitely would have to be something really weird that I’m going to do that.”
