Max Pacioretty Will Not Face Any Discipline For Hit On Ryan McDonagh
Montreal Canadiens Max Pacioretty will not face any supplementary discipline for his hit Saturday on New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com.
Pacioretty had a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety Sunday about the hit, which forced McDonagh from the game at 7:20 of the second period of the Habs’ 3-0 win in Montreal. Pacioretty earned a boarding minor on the play; McDonagh did not return to the game.
After his team was shut out at the Bell Centre, a game in which the Rangers also lost their other top-pair defenseman Dan Girardi to injury, coach John Tortorella vented about the hit. ”How high did Pacioretty jump on his hit?” Tortorella asked. “[Can] anybody give me an answer?”
