Some minor signings:
  • Montreal Canadiens have signed prospect Greg Pateryn to a two-year contract. He posted 15 points and 65 penalty minutes in 41 contests from the back end with the University of Michigan in 2011-12. Pateryn was originally a fifth-round pick of Toronto in 2008, but he was acquired by the Canadiens as part of the Mikhail Grabovski trade.
  • Boone Jenner has agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Jenner was a second-round choice, 37th overall, of the Blue Jackets in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He notched 22 goals and 49 points in 43 games this season, as the captain of the OHL’s Oshawa Generals. Jenner also represented Canada’s bronze-medal winning squad at the 2012 World Junior Championships. It shouldn’t be long before he is in the NHL.
  • The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed college free agent Spencer Abbott. The 23-year-old broke out offensively in his fourth year with the University of Maine in 2011-12 with 21 goals and 41 assists in 39 games to lead the nation in scoring. He was among the 15 finalists listed for the 2012 Hobey Baker award and was named Hockey East’s Player of the Year. Abbott will join the AHL’s Toronto Marlies on an amateur tryout for the remainder of the year.
