Michael Del Zotto is still without a new contract with the New York Rangers. With only a few days left before the current Collective Bargaining Agreement expires September 15, Andrew Gross of The Record suggests negotiations don’t appear to be progressing all that well.

“All I can do is prepare for the start of the season and the rest of the stuff is out of my control,” Del Zotto said. “I understand it’s a business.”

On the verge of signing his second pro contract, the 22-year-old restricted free agent would likely benefit from getting a deal done before the CBA expires. But this battle may go right down to the wire. At last check, Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported the Rangers were believed to be offering a multi-year deal in the “neighborhood of $2.2 million to $2.5 million per season”.
