Shane Doan has maintained all along that his first choice has been to stay with the Phoenix Coyotes. And he’s proven that point by waiting to see if prospective owner Greg Jamison will be able to make significant progress towards a deal to keep the club in its hometown.

As it turns out, that patience may end up paying off for Doan. According to InsidePittsburghSports.com, there’s a growing feeling that Doan might not be all that far from signing a new contract with the Coyotes. There’s plenty of speculation involved here, but the fact that Doan has continued to wait after speaking with Jamison throughout this process could certainly be taken as evidence that he may have heard promising news in regards to the Coyotes future. Adding fuel to the fire is the growing sentiment around the hockey world in the last 24 hours that the Desert Dogs could be close to a resolution that would keep them in Phoenix after all. And, if that proves to be the case, Doan would have the option of staying where’s he’s wanted to play all along.
