Update: Josh Cooper of The Tennessean reports that Nashville Predators Coach Barry Trotz says the Predators are on Shane Doan short list.  “I’ve been in contact with Shane Doan almost a month now. I keep in contact with him,” Trotz said. “To be quite honest I hope everything gets resolved in Phoenix and he retires as a Phoenix Coyote, but if it doesn’t, I know Nashville is on his short list.”

August 6th: Shane Doan has apparently narrowed his list of potential destinations to just three teams. Hewill choose between the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canuckswrites New York Post scribe Larry Brooks, who goes as far as saying that “Doan is more likely than not to become a Blueshirt” if Rangers general manager Glen Sather offers him the four-year contract he desires.

And there’s even a chance Doan take a three-year deal to play in the Big Apple, according to Brooks. If that’s true, the Rangers could now be the favorites to land the 35-year-old forward.
