It makes some degree of sense to try to provide him with the same offer. Both are at the same stage of their career and are x-factors. In Duchene’s case it’s because he struggled in 2011-12 while it remains to be seen if O’Reilly can build off of his breakout 55-point campaign. The problem is O’Reilly is believed to be looking for about $5 million annually. O’Reilly is currently playing in the KHL.
