NHL Signing: Dallas Stars, Jamie Benn Agree To Five-Year Contract

Jamie Benn and the Dallas Stars agreed to a $26.25 million, five-year contract, the team announced Thursday.
Benn will earn an average of $5.25 million per year. He missed last’s week training camp and the opening week of the NHL season while negotiating a new deal.
The 23-year-old native of Victoria, British Columbia, was second on the team in scoring last season with 63 points (26-37) in 71 games.
“Jamie Benn has proven in his short, but very productive NHL career, that he is not only this franchise’s cornerstone player, but also an emerging superstar in the league,” said General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. “We believe that Jamie has the necessary tools to continue his growth and lead this team into the next great era of Dallas Stars hockey.”
