NHL Signings: Jamie McBain, Bob Sanguinetti, Nicolas Blanchard, Alexander Sulzer, Jani Hakanpaa
NHL signings from around the league:
- The Carolina Hurricanes have confirmed that Jamie McBain’s newly inked two-year deal is worth $3.6 million. McBain will make $1.7 million next season and $1.9 million in 2013-14. McBain would have become a restricted free agent this summer.
- Bob Sanguinetti has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Carolina Hurricanes. Sanguinetti will earn $105,000 at the AHL and $700,000 if he spends the 2012-13 campaign in the NHL. He had 10 goals and 50 points in 60 contests in 2011-12.
- The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Nicolas Blanchard to a two-year, two-way contract extension. Blanchard will make $525,000 annually in the NHL and $105,000 per season in the minors. However, he is guarantee to earn at least $125,000 per season. He had 21 points and 103 penalty minutes in 68 games with the AHL Charlotte Checkers last season.
- Alexander Sulzer has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Buffalo Sabres. Sulzer was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He had three goals and seven points in 27 games between Vancouver Canucks and Buffalo in 2011-12.
- Jani Hakanpaa has inked an entry-level contract with the St. Louis Blues. Hakanpaa was selected by St. Louis with the 104th overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He had five goals and 12 points in 41 games with the Blues of SM-liiga.
