NHL Signings: Mac Carruth, Kent Simpson, Joakim Nordstrom, Klas Dahlbeck, Brandon Davidson, Johan Gustafsson
- Mac Carruth has agreed to a three-year contract with Chicago. The seventh round selection of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010 posted a 42-17-2 record, a 2.96 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage in 63 regular season games with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks.
- Chicago Blackhawks have signed goalie prospect Kent Simpson to a three-year deal. He spent the majority of the 2011-12 campaign with the WHL’s Everett Silvertips, where he registered a 20-31-7 record, including two shutouts, with a .909 save percentage and a 3.33 GAA 60 games. Simpson also made his AHL debut with Rockford this past season and stopped 38 of the 41 shots he faced in a shootout loss to Charlotte on April 14.
- Joakim Nordstrom has inked a three-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. He notched three goals and three assists in 47 games with AIK of the Swedish Elite League as a 20-year-old. Nordstrom was great for Sweden at the 2012 World Junior Championships in recording four goals, one assist and a plus-6 rating in six contests en route to a gold medal. He was chosen in the third round of the 2010 draft by the Blackhawks.
- The Chicago Blachawks have agreed to a three-year contract with defenseman Klas Dahlbeck. In 55 games with Linkoping HC of the Swedish Elite League, he recorded two goals, four points and 20 penalty minutes. The Hawks grabbed him with the 79th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
- The New York Islanders signed prospect John Persson to a three-year, entry-level contract on Tuesday. He amassed 23 goals and 58 points in 70 contests with the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels in 2011-12. Persson concluded the year with the Islanders’ AHL affiliate, where he produced four goals and four assists in 12 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. New York selected him in the fifth round of the 2011 draft.
- The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to an entry-level contract with Brandon Davidson. He potted 13 goals and 49 points in 69 games for Regina, of the WHL, this past campaign. Davidson also had a plus-26 rating and 83 penalty minutes. He’ll likely spend most of his time in the minors next year.
- Johan Gustafsson has inked a three-year, entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild. The Wild cut the deal close to the deadline, which was set for Friday, which would’ve made Gustafsson eligible to go back into the draft. The 20-year-old keeper helped Sweden win the gold medal at the 2012 World Junior Championships. Gustafsson earned a .932 save percentage and a 1.68 goals-against average in 29 games with Lulea HF in the Swedish Elite League last season.
