NHL Trade: Dallas Stars Trade Steve Ott And Adam Pardy For Derek Roy
The Dallas Stars have acquired Derek Roy from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Steve Ott and Adam Pardy.
Roy was a disappointment in 2010-11 due to injury problems. He failed to bounce back in 2011-12, scoring just 17 goals and 44 points in 80 games. The change of scenery might due him good, especially if he ends up on a line with Loui Eriksson and/or Ray Whitney.
The pesky Ott scored 11 goals and 28 assists adding 156 penalty minutes in 74 games with the Stars last season. His total was the sixth-highest penalty minute count in the league.
In 36 games with the Stars in 2011-12, Pardy scored three assists and added 16 penalty minutes.
Roy is expected to fill the void on Dallas first line after the team dealt centre Mike Ribeiro to the Washington Capitals at the 2012 NHL Draft for Cody Eakin and a second-round draft pick.
