NHL Trade Rumors from around the league:

  • There was some buzz that Brenden Morrow could be dealt at this past trade deadline, but he ended up staying with the Dallas Stars. However, he might move this summer, according to the Edmonton Journal’s Jim Matheson. Matheson writes that the speed of the game makes it tough for Morrow, who was never a great skater, so Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk could might ask Morrow for a list of teams he’d OK a trade to.
  • There’s a good chance Los Angeles Kings backup Jonathan Bernier is traded this summer especially with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs desperately needing to settle their goalie situations. Edmonton Journal’s Jim Matheson writes that they won’t deal Bernier until they sign a solid veteran backup preferably a former starter to backup Jonathan Quick.
  • The Toronto Maple Leafs will target a No. 1 goalie this offseason, and they may have to pay big to land one. Edmonton Journal’s Jim Matheson writes, they could trade for Calgary Flames starter Miikka Kiprusoff, and Flames General Manager Jay Feaster will probably listen to the calls. The more interesting option, though, is Vancouver Canucks backup Cory Schneider. Regardless of who the Leaf’s go after The Boston Globe’s Kevin Paul Dupont wonders if it’ll be Phil Kessel who is dangled.
