According to the CBC’s Elliotte Friedman, the Buffalo Sabres seem open to trading one of their defensemen for the right return.

“Teams are looking for defensemen and the Buffalo Sabres have eight. But Sabres GM Darcy Regier says he’s told teams, ‘Give me a reason to trade one.’ So far, he feels he hasn’t received a good enough answer.”

Regier may lower his asking price if the 3-6-1 Sabres continue to struggle. Conversely, a team in need of experienced blue-line help may become more desperate as the season wears on. No reason to make any rash moves at the moment.

While Christian Ehrhoff and Tyler Myers are locked-in long-term and likely staying put, both Jordan Leopold and Robyn Regehr are poised to become unrestricted free agents this coming July.
