The Los Angeles Kings are apparently looking to trade young forward Kyle Clifford. According to Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period, the Kings and Clifford’s reps remain far apart on negotiating a new contract for the restricted free agent. So GM Dean Lombardi may feel it’s time to try and get something in return for the rights to the 22-year-old winger.

“Reliable league source now says Kings actively shopping Kyle Clifford.”

Bernstein insists there’s “no chance” a deal happens with the Montreal Canadiens. With minimal salary cap space available, the Kings are likely to want a draft pick and/or prospect in return. Clifford collected seven goals and seven assists in 48 games during the 2012-13 regular season. He wasn’t very productive (two assists) in the postseason.
