If the Pittsburgh Penguins trade Kris Letang, they want at least one NHL player under term for multiple years, a first-round draft pick and a top prospect, sources told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

That’s almost the exact same package Pittsburgh received at least year’s draft for Jordan Staal, who, like Letang reportedly did Thursday, rejected a long-term contract extension from the Penguins only days before the entry draft. It’s unclear if Letang will be dealt, but the Tribune-Review reports the Penguins would prefer to move him to the Western Conference. The paper specifically cites the Anaheim Ducks and Vancouver Canucks as being the most intriguing options for Pittsburgh.
