The latest trade rumors surrounding Rick Nash

  • Detroit Free Press reports that the Columbus Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson said “we are working very hard” to trade disgruntled forward Rick Nash. The deal could be coming closer as most of the high-end unrestricted free agents have signed in the last week and some team’s were shut out of the action. Look for the Rangers, Flyers, Sharks and Red Wings to make a play for the high scoring winger.
  • According to the Raleigh News & Observer the Carolina Hurricanes reportedly had no interest in trading Jeff Skinner as part of a Rick Nash deal. It’s hard to blame them and it sounds like Carolina is no longer pursuing Nash as a result. Skinner had a rough sophomore season, but he should bounce back in 2012-13 and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him reach the 30-goal mark for the second time in three campaigns.
  • The Ottawa Sun reports that the Ottawa Senators have given up on their bid to get Rick Nash, but they might still make a big splash this summer. One possibility is that they’ll go after Bobby Ryan, but they’ll have plenty of competition for his services. That being said, they have a lot of trade chips and the cap space to make something big happen.
