Trade rumors circulating about a possible Phil Kessel trade have been blown way out of proportion, according to The Globe and Mail.

Although Kessel has had trouble scoring so far this season, he has played strong two-way hockey. Despite a buzz on the street that Kessel is on the trade block, do not believe the Toronto Maple Leafs are ready to move him. The sniper’s five-year deal with the club expires in July 2014, meaning that Kessel technically can sign an extension in five months. This is not a front burner issue for the Leafs or for Kessel and his agent Wade Arnott and will not move the club to trade him at this time.
