  • Raleigh News & Observer reports that Cam Ward is expected to play for Team Canada in the 2012 IIHF World Championships. Ward would like to play for Canada in the 2014 Winter Olympics, assuming that the NHL agrees to let their players participate in that event.
  • New Jersey Online reports that New Jersey Devils owner Jeff Vanderbeek regrets moving the Devils to Newark following Mayor Cory Booker’s attacks on him. Booker is upset because an arbitrator ruled that the city needs to pay the Devils $2.7 million a year in parking revenues. Booker said Vanderbeek hasn’t given the money he pledged to provide the city for job training and youth programs as part of the lease agreement on the Prudential Center. Vanderbeek said his friends warned him ” don’t step foot in that city” and at this point, he regrets not listening to them. All the same, he doesn’t plan to relocate the team.
  • Canada’s national men’s under 18 roster that will compete at next week’s World U18 Championship in the Czech Republic was announced on Wednesday.
