Quick Hits: Dmitry Kulikov, Wade Redden, Toronto Maple Leafs
Quick Hits from around the league:
- Dmitry Kulikov has inked a two-year deal with the Florida Panthers. Kulikov was a restricted free agent. He has missed pretty much the entirety of the short training camp due to the contract negotiations, but fortunately he played in Europe during the lockout. He had six points and 28 penalty minutes in 22 KHL games.
- Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun floated the possibility Thursday afternoon of the Edmonton Oilers being interested in Wade Redden, but David Staple of the Edmonton Journal quickly dismissed the idea.
- James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail suggests the Toronto Maple Leafs have an eye to splitting starts fairly evenly between James Reimer and ‘backup’ Ben Scrivens. “I also have a sneaking suspicion Scrivens will start Saturday, with Reimer getting home opener on Monday. Could be true tandem this year.”
