Quick Hits: Draft Pick Signings, Dmitry Korobov, Ryan Kesler, Jason Arnott
Quick Hits from around the league:
- The Los Angeles Kings have signed forward Tanner Pearson, selected by the Kings in the first-round in the 2012 NHL Draft, to a three-year entry level contract.
- The Vancouver Canucks announced the signing of forward Alexandre Mallet on Thursday. Mallet was picked in the second round, 57th overall by the Canucks in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in June.
- The New York Islanders signed first-round pick Griffin Reinhart to a three-year, entry-level contract Thursday.
- The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Dmitry Korobov to a two-year, two-way contract the team announced Thursday. The 23-year-old played for Minsk Dynamo of the KHL last season. He had one goal and 11 points in 39 games and led the team with a plus-12.
- Ryan Kesler’s agent doesn’t think his client will be ready to play before December, reports the Vancouver Province. Kesler is recovering from his recent shoulder surgery. “He’s not ahead of schedule and there’s no rushing him back,” agent Kurt Overhardt said. “He’s on course to return in December and he’s not returning until he’s 100 per cent. Don’t expect him until December.” Kesler also had minor surgery on his left wrist. He had a disappointing 22 goals and 49 points in 77 games last season.
- The Vancouver Canucks might have some interest in unrestricted free agent Jason Arnott. The St. Louis Blues don’t seem to want Arnott back, presumably because they want to get younger. However, with Ryan Kesler expected to be sidelined until December, the Vancouver Canucks could use another capable center. Arnott had 17 goals and 34 points in 72 games last season while averaging 14:05 minutes per contest.
