Quick Hits: Jason Arnott, Wade Redden, Roberto Luongo, Ryan O’Reilly
Quick Hits from around the league:
- As an unrestricted free agent, Jason Arnott is hoping to entertain several suitors in the next while. However, even though the veteran forward has been skating with members of the Dallas Stars, a deal in Texas doesn’t seem to be in the cards. Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports the signing of Arnott in Dallas is”unlikely”.
- The New York Rangers aren’t taking any chances when it comes to ridding themselves of Wade Redden. According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the Rangers will not allow their estranged defenseman to play in the AHL this season, as he has the last two seasons.
- If Roberto Luongo ends up with the Toronto Maple Leafs, a scenario that became more likely when Dave Nonis was named the Leafs new GM. the Vancouver Canucks are going to want more than just center Tyler Bozak in return. The Vancouver Sun’s Elliott Pap, for one, expects any deal for Luongo will involve multiple players, and suggests the Canucks could ask for Leafs youngster Nazem Kadri and one of their goaltenders either James Reimer or Ben Scrivens.
- It appears Ryan O’Reilly will continue to play in Russia until there’s a new contract in place with the Colorado Avalanche. The Denver Post reports the restricted free agent might not be signed when training camps open this weekend. But it’s “believed the Avs and O’Reilly began talking Tuesday”.
