Quick Hits: Leafs, Carter, Gagner, Wild
- The Boston Globe’s Kevin Paul Dupont thinks that Phil Kessel and Mikhail Grabovski would be the Ducks’ asking price to get Bobby Ryan. The Leafs might want to try to avoid sending Kessel away by packaging Nazem Kadri and Joe Colborne.
- The Columbus Dispatch’s Michael Arace goes as far as to say, “It is the worst-kept secret in the NHL that Jeff Carter will be traded before the February 27th deadline.” The only question is who would be interested in taking on his $5.27 million cap hit.
- The Calgary Sun’s Eric Francis writes, “Fact is, while the Oilers would consider trading Sam Gagner if it could land the club a top-four defenseman, few teams around the league are willing to pay big for a small center who isn’t considered a strong skater.”
- The Minnesota Wild are going to see what kind of offensive firepower they can add before the deadline, but the Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s Michael Russo writes that they likely won’t trade for Jeff Carter or Brad Boyes, and they have concernes about Derek Roy.
