•  The New York Rangers continue to work on a contract for restricted free agent Michael Del Zotto. Del Zotto’s agent said he was “hopeful” a deal would be completed. The 22-year-old improved by leaps and bounds from a disappointing sophomore campaign that saw him get sent to the minors to score 10 times, tally 31 assists and record a plus-20 rating this past season. Del Zotto earned $875,000, and The Bergen Record’s Andrew Gross speculates a three-year, $1.75 million could be a fair agreement.
  • Promising young center Mikael Backlund, who was a restricted free agent, has re-signed with the Calgary Flames. Terms were not disclosed.
  • The Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday signed forward Ruslan Fedotenko and defenseman Bruno Gervais. Terms of the deals were not released, but NHL.com is reporting Gervais contract is for two years at $825,000 per season, while Fedotenko will make $1.75 million on a one-year pact.
  • Along with the Ottawa Senators, the Carolina Hurricanes appear out of the running for Rick NashTSN’s Darren Dreger reports the Hurricanes are no longer pursuing Nash via trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
