NHL trade rumors from around the league:

  • According to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, a Rick Nash trade is not on the verge of completion. ”We’re waiting for the right deals,” General Manager Scott Howson said. “We’re getting closer. But we’re not there yet.” On Monday night, TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie spoke about where Nash could land if he’s dealt at the deadline. McKenzie believes that the Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers seem to be the front runners at this point. The Philadelphia Flyers have reportedly pulled back a bit due to the asking price.
  • Buffalo Sabres forward Paul Gaustad, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season, has heard his name come up frequently in trade talks, but according to Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News, the seven-year veteran isn’t spending much time worrying about it.”I’m not too focused on it. I don’t really listen to guys on the radio or read your newspaper articles.” Gaustad told the News. “So it’s not too hard for me. It’s focusing on our team. We’ve had some struggles and that’s what’s tough on us.” Gaustad said that he wants to remain with the Sabres long term, and would consider re-signing with the team in July if he’s moved at the deadline.
  • Joe Haggerty of Comcast Sports New England reports that while the Boston Bruins are looking to upgrade their roster at the deadline, the team won’t be adding a big name player like Rick Nash or Ryan Suter. ”I have all the names on my board of potential UFAs, and it’s not a real big list,” General Manager Peter Chiarelli said. The Bruins, who don’t have their second or fourth round picks in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, are not interested in moving goaltender Tuukka Rask or 2011 first rounder Dougie Hamilton.
