Quick Hits: Phoenix Coyotes, Chris Kelly, St. Louis Blues, Jeff Halpern, Shea Weber
Quick Hits from around the league:
- Glendale’s City Council approved a 20-year lease agreement for Jobing.com Arena on Friday, clearing the last major hurdle in the sale of the Phoenix Coyotes to a group led by former San Jose Sharks CEO Greg Jamison.
- The Boston Bruins appear close to signing Chris Kelly to a new contract. CSN’s Joe Haggerty reports that both Kelly and fellow Unrestricted Free Agent Gregory Campbell are near multi-year deals.
- New St. Louis Blues owner Tom Stillman is looking to streamline the front office, and one way to do that will be to rid it of redundancies. Blues president John Davidson has been the guy who most have guessed is on the way out, since as the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Bernie Miklasz writes General Manager Doug Armstrong has “emerged as the clear leader of the hockey operation.”
- The Washington Capitals are going to let Jeff Halpern walk via free agency, the Washington Post’s Katie Carrera reports.
- The Philadelphia Flyers may chase restricted free agent Shea Weber, who would be the ideal replacement for Chris Pronger, the Delco Times’ Rob Parent writes.
