Quick Hits from around the league:
  • Stephane Veilleux has reportedly signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Minnesota Wild. The financial terms of the agreement were not immediately available. Veilleux had two assists in 22 games with Minnesota and New Jersey last season.
  • Martin Brodeur hasn’t confirmed to New Jersey Devils GM Lou Lamoriello that he wants to play in 2012-13. Brodeur is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but he’s more likely to retire than sign with another club. That being said, the most probable scenario is still that he’ll re-sign for the 2012-13 campaign. During the Devils postseason run, he spoke several times about his interest in extending his NHL career.
  • The Washington Capitals might name their new head coach next week. ”I might be leaning one way,” McPhee said. “We’ll see. I’ve got a few more questions to ask next week, not of these people, but of people who know them. We might be able to wrap it up this week and if we do that’d be nice. But I can’t promise anything.” AHL Norfolk Admirals head coach Jon Cooper, former Chicago Blackhawks assistant coach Mike Haviland, and Devils assistant coach Adam Oates are probably the top three candidates for the job.
