Quick Hits from around the league:

  • Zach Boychuk has been put on waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes. After playing in the Hurricanes season opener, Boychuk has been a healthy scratch for the last four contests. NHL teams have until noon Thursday to claim Boychuk and that could happen considering he is only 23 years of age and he has played well in the AHL this campaign in Charlotte. Boychuk registered a team-leading 16 goals and 32 points in 37 games with Carolina’s minor-league affiliate prior to joining the big club for training camp. If he clears then he’ll head back down to the AHL.
  • The Edmonton Oilers announced goaltender Yann Danis has cleared waivers and been re-assigned to the club’s American Hockey League team, the Oklahoma City Barons. That move could mean veteran Nikolai Khabibulin is healthy enough to return to the lineup. Khabibulin has not played this season while continuing to work his way back from hip surgery in April.
