Raffi Torres Discipline Suspension Is Hot Topic During Collective Bargaining Agreement Talks
TSN.ca reports that discipline rose to the surface at the NHL-NHLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement meetings Friday, and in particular, the case of Phoenix Coyotes left winger Raffi Torres, who was suspended 25 games for elbowing Chicago Blackhawks right wing Marian Hossa under the chin in the playoffs last season.
Torres appealed the suspension May 17, and the league announced July 2 that the suspension had been cut to 21 games. “Raffi has come up in conversation,” Winnipeg Jets player representative Ron Hainsey said. “The players are very interested in the whole process.”Which is no surprise. “They want some changes,” NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said. “We’re still in a process of exploring what they proposed.”
