According to Josh Cooper of the Tennessean, Nashville Predators GM David Poile isn’t confident that a deal will get done with Ryan Suter before July 1.

Once July 1 hits, he becomes an unrestricted free agent, which essentially means a bidding war can and will begin for him. Plenty of clubs need a skilled defenseman, Suter is one of the best in the league and on top of all that the supply of even halfway decent rearguards that figure to be available this offseason is pretty thin. That all adds up to a high demand for Suter, with the Detroit Red Wings leading a long list of potential suitors.
