The St. Louis Blues announced today that Scott Mellanby will be leaving his post as assistant coach. The longtime NHL vet spent this past season working under Ken Hitchcock as the Blues made a remarkable turnaround that led to a push for the Presidents’ Trophy.

Mellanby pointed out that he enjoyed his time as an assistant and thanked St. Louis for the opportunity, then noted that he’d like to be more involved in the hockey operations side of the game. TSN’s Bob McKenzie says we could see him emerge as General Manager Marc Bergevin’s assistant in Montreal.
