Smyth Would Consider Trade To Rangers
Ryan Smyth of the Edmonton Oilers controls his own fate ahead of this year’s deadline. And there’s word the soon-to-be 36-year-old would be willing to waive his no-movement clause for a chance to join the New York Rangers.
According to Larry Brooks, a “well-placed source” has told the New York Post that Smyth would “give serious consideration to waiving his no-move clause” for the chance to challenge for the Stanley Cup with the Rangers. It’s not like New York management and the veteran forward are unfamiliar with each other. Smyth was not only drafted by Glen Sather, but played the first few years of his career under the then General Manager of the Oilers.
