But there seems to be growing consensus in the NHL media in regards to the perceived favorites.

Candidates discussed earlier broadcaster Pierre McGuire, agent Pat Brisson, current assistant general managers Marc Bergevin (Chicago), Patrice BriseBois (Tampa Bay), Claude Loiselle (Toronto) and former Canadiens goalie Patrick Roy all seem to have a reasonable shot at securing the gig.

In addition to that list of candidates, ESPN.com Pierre LeBrun suggests other potential candidates to take over the vacant General Manager position. LeBrun lists Francois Giguere, Vincent Damphousse, Andre Savard and Pierre Lacroix.
