Midnight of this new year marked the deadline of Hulsizer’s exclusive opportunity to purchase the organization. Without a closed sale, it’s now up to the NHL to decide whether to give Hulsizer more time or work with Tom Stillman and his group instead.

The St. Louis-Post Dispatch:

“It is believed that Hulsizer’s group has asked the NHL for more time to complete its purchase of the Blues. Multiple sources have indicated that the sale has been close to completion; it appeared as recently as 10 days ago that the deal might be consummated in time, but there remain unsettled financial obstacles. The group has attempted to obtain three different types of financing structures, but none has been able to satisfy the league, according to sources.”

The purchase agreement Hulsizer signed in October becomes void today. However, the league could be flexible if Hulsizer is close to getting his financial ducks in a row. Otherwise, Stillman could become the new owner of the Blues.
