Forward Vaclav Prospal may be safe from being dealt by the Columbus Blue Jackets after signing a one-year extension, but that means little to the rest of the team.

The Columbus Dispatch reports Jeff CarterRick Nash and company remain vulnerable, trade-wise, ahead of the February 27th deadline. Prospal’s re-signing means little to the organization’s potential plan to “go nuclear” and re-build.

“It doesn’t change that at all,” Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson said. “Prospal’s going to be here either way.”

“The next two weeks are going to be a big two weeks,” interim coach Todd Richards added.

In addition to Carter and Nash, just about any forward could be available for the right price. Defenseman Grant Clitsome and goaltender Curtis Sanford could also be on the move. The Blue Jackets would love to deal struggling netminder Steve Mason.

Those considered most “untouchable” include defensemen James Wisniewski and Fedor Tyutin.
