• The Chicago Blackhawks were likely eyeing Tim Gleason and Francois Beauchemin in the last few weeks, but both guys were re-signed by their respective teams. TSN’s Craig Button thinks Lubomir Visnovsky might be a fit in Chicago.
  • The Minnesota Wild have been struggling on offense without two of their top forwards, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Guillaume Latendresse, which is why they went out and traded for Erik Christensen. However General Manager Chuck Fletcher told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, “We’re going to hope for the best but we have to plan for the worst and that’s a big reason for this move.”
  • It’s quite unlikely San Jose Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson is actively shopping Joe Pavelski, but CSN’s Ray Ratto recently wrote that, in order for the Sharks to significanlty upgrade their offense, think Corey Perry and Zach Parise Wilson will have to give up Pavelski.
  • Ales Hemsky is slated to hit unrestricted free agency, but the Edmonton Oilers and Hemsky’s agent haven’t talked about a new deal yet. So that’s a huge indication that the Oilers want to see what they can get for the 28-year-old forward at the upcoming trade deadline.
  • The Detroit Red Wings have been linked to several forwards on the market, TSN’s Darren Dreger is saying they may chase Dallas Stars defenseman Nicklas Grossman. He’s slated to be an unrestricted free agent at season’s end and carries a very affordable $1.625 million cap hit this season.
  • The Los Angeles Kings are looking around the league for some offensive help and, as TSN‘s Darren Dreger says, GM Dean Lombardi is interested in pretty much every top-six forward available.
